Your Implant Options

Single-Tooth vs. Full-Arch Implants

Single-tooth implants are the most common type of dental implant. They consist of a single dental implant which is used to support a false tooth (crown). Multiple single-tooth implants can be used to restore more than one missing tooth.

However, for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth, full-arch implants are a good alternative. In this procedure, you will get a series of 4-6 dental implants in the upper, lower or both arches of your teeth. Then, these implants can be used to hold a permanent dental bridge, or a removable implant-supported denture.

What to Expect

Dental Implant Placement & Restoration

After Dr. Amin has approved you for treatment, you will come into our office for your surgery. You will be numbed and can also be sedated, if desired. Then, Dr. Amin will make a small, precise opening in the jaw and gums and place each implant in the proper position. The area will be cleaned and sutured shut.

Over the next 3-6 months, your implants will heal and permanently bond with your jaw tissue. During this time, you will come into our office multiple times so that we can begin to build your dental restoration, such as a crown or implant-supported denture. Once your mouth has healed, you’ll come back in for a final appointment, and have your implant-supported restoration placed.

High-Quality Implants

BioHorizons

We use high-quality BioHorizons implants for all of our implant procedures. These specialized implants reduce the need for bone grafting and are ideal for both single-tooth and full-arch restorations.

Preparing for Dental Implants

Strengthen Jaw & Gums with Oral Surgery

In some cases, you may need oral surgery such as a tooth extraction, sinus lift, bone graft, or alveoplasty before your implant procedure can begin. At Lighthouse Dental, we have extensive experience in these procedures.

If your jaw bone is weak due to tooth loss, you may need a bone graft before you can have an implant placed. Dr. Amin will open up the gum and jaw at your implant site, and pack it with bone material. As the area heals, new jaw bone material will form, strengthening the area and preparing it for an implant.

A sinus lift is similar to bone grafting, but it’s used for the upper teeth. The sinus membrane is lifted, and bone material is packed into place below the implant site. Then, the area is sutured shut and begins to heal, allowing bone to form below the implant site. This, in turn, provides the implant with a strong attachment point.

Alveoplasty is sometimes necessary before your dental implant can be placed. The bone will be smoothed and filed down, allowing your implant to be placed in the ideal position to ensure that your implants fit perfectly.

Advanced Technology

CBCT X-Rays

Our office is equipped with CBCT technology, which allows Dr. Amin to get a three-dimensional view of your jaw, teeth, and skull before placing dental implants. This allows him to develop a more precise implant plan, and ensures that you get the best possible results. We use the latest dental technology at Lighthouse Dental to ensure optimal treatment results and a stellar patient experience.
